Florida Physicians must prescribe on Form DFS-F2-DWC-25; delays often due to carrier UR or pharmacy PBMs.

Injury claim denial rate in Florida is approx. 25% in 2023; prescription delays are an ongoing issue per state for Workers Comp attorneys.

PBM rebates not required to be disclosed in Florida; reimbursement issues raised by independent pharmacies.

Florida’s Firefighter Cancer Benefit Law recognizes 21 types of cancer as occupational diseases. BUT, the new law was enacted as an “alternative to pursuing workers’ compensation benefits…,” this law is not considered part of Florida’s workers’ compensation system (Chapter 440, Fla. Stat.). Workers’ compensation coverage may not provide any of the new firefighter cancer benefits. The Program provides coverage that pays a $25,000 lump-sum benefit to eligible firefighters when diagnosed with a specified cancer, as mandated under the Law. The Program also provides an optional $75,000 death benefit. Seen as an “alternative” to WC claims.
